President of Mansoura National University Discusses the Sustainability Center’s Strategic Plan and the Advancement of Fourth-Generation University Principles

As part of Mansoura National University’s commitment to advancing sustainability and integrating sustainable development principles across its academic and administrative activities, Professor Mohamed Abdel Azim, President of the University, chaired a meeting with members of the Board of the Sustainability Center to discuss the Center’s action plan for the coming period. The meeting was attended by Board members, faculty deans, program directors, and Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Naguib, Director of the Sustainability Center.

During the meeting, the University President emphasized the importance of developing a comprehensive strategic vision for the Sustainability Center that aligns with the university’s vision and future plans. He noted that, as a fourth-generation university (4GU), Mansoura National University is committed to embedding the principles of environmental, economic, and social sustainability throughout the university community.

Professor Mohamed Abdel Azim stressed the importance of strengthening the Center’s role in supporting university initiatives related to energy conservation, the preservation of green spaces and the environment, the adoption of environmentally sustainable technologies, and the promotion of sustainable practices across faculties and administrative units. He also highlighted the importance of fostering a culture of sustainability among students and faculty members.

He further directed the development of plans for building management and maintenance, as well as the establishment of mechanisms to improve energy efficiency and optimize energy consumption in accordance with international standards. In addition, he emphasized the importance of advancing economic and technological sustainability across the university.

The University President also highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation with local and international organizations and institutions working in the field of sustainability to facilitate knowledge exchange and the adoption of international best practices.

The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the university administration’s continued support for the Sustainability Center in achieving the university’s strategic objectives and strengthening its role in advancing sustainable development at both the local and international levels.
