37 Students from East Africa Join GUC and GIU with Full Scholarships

In a step that reflects the leading role of the Arab Republic of Egypt as a regional hub for higher education, the German University in Cairo (GUC) and the German International University (GIU) in the New Administrative Capital proudly welcome 37 students from East African countries under the “East Africa Scholarship,” offered by Prof.Ashraf Mansour, Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

The scholarship includes students from several African countries, namely Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and South Sudan.

It provides full coverage of tuition fees in addition to living expenses throughout the study period, ensuring a comprehensive educational environment that enables students to fully dedicate themselves to academic and research excellence.

The students have been distributed across various academic disciplines at both universities, each according to their chosen field of study.

At the German University in Cairo (GUC), students have enrolled in the Faculties of: Information Engineering & Technology, Engineering and Materials Science, Pharmacy and Biotechnology, Management Technology, Applied Sciences and Arts, and Law and Legal Studies.

Meanwhile, at the German International University (GIU), students have joined the Faculties of: Engineering, Informatics and Computer Science, Business Administration, and Physical Therapy.

This initiative comes within the framework of strengthening academic cooperation with African countries and represents an extension of the two universities’ role in building bridges of knowledge and cultural exchange, as well as preparing qualified graduates who can contribute to achieving sustainable development across Africa.

Prof. Ashraf Mansour emphasized that this direction aligns with the commitment of both GUC and GIU to supporting Egypt’s strategic direction toward strengthening ties with African nations.

Such educational initiatives serve as a practical translation of Egypt’s policy to deepen its strategic relations with its African surroundings.

The two universities are keen to play an active role in this path by providing high-quality education and comprehensive scholarships, contributing to the preparation of qualified graduates capable of leading development efforts in their home countries, and reinforcing Egypt’s position as a regional hub for knowledge and a gateway to sustainable development in Africa.

He added: “We believe that education is the most powerful tool for building the future, and that supporting African youth academically is a true investment in the stability and growth of the entire continent.

Both universities are committed to preparing a generation of leaders capable of creating positive change in their societies through an integrated educational system based on quality, innovation, and the development of critical thinking skills.”

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees concluded his remarks by welcoming the students with a warm message: “Welcome to your second home… From Cairo and the New Administrative Capital, we begin together the journey of shaping the future.”
