The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities delivers a speech on World Tourism Day

The world celebrates, on September 27th of each year, World Tourism Day, which highlights the importance of tourism and its developmental, economic, social, cultural, and political values.

This year’s celebration has a special character, as it takes place under the slogan “Tourism and Peace.” Tourism plays a vital role in promoting peace and global stability. It is one of the important tools of soft power that bringing nations closer together, fostering communication, and spreading a culture of dialogue and mutual understanding among the diverse cultures of the international community

.

Tourism builds trust and respect, laying a strong foundation for cooperation, inclusive growth, and prosperity—factors that are key to preventing conflicts.

This slogan reminds us of one of the most prominent events in ancient Egypt, which is the signing of King Ramses II of the first documented peace treaty in the world with the Hittites after the Battle of Kadesh, which reflects the vision of the Egyptians since the ancient times in achieving stability and peace.

Achieving a promising future for tourism requires intensifying efforts to make this sector a means of human communication and resolving conflicts, as the tourism industry is based on freedom and safety of movement and travel, which requires the constant pursuit of achieving peace at the global level, not only in certain parts of it, in addition to being a platform for envisioning the future.

The ministry’s work strategy will focus on highlighting the diversity of Egypt’s tourism products that distinguish the Egyptian tourist destinations and working on developing each product individually so that the Egyptian tourist destinations become the first in the world in terms of diversity. Egypt continues to captivate tourists from all over the world. In addition, our strategy emphasizes diversifying target markets, contributing to tourism economic security and ensuring the sustainability of both tourism and heritage.

Furthermore, the ministry is committed to improving the investment for tourism, developing plans to foster human resource development within this vital sector. We are also focused on strengthening governance and oversight across all aspects of tourism and antiquities.

The strategy also aims to draw a tourism marketing with an economic mindset that takes into account the seasonality of tourism movement. The ministry is currently seeking to present a modern image of Egypt through creating a new content for different tourist destinations and updating tourism promotion mechanisms that relying more on electronic tourism marketing, especially social media platforms as one of the most important modern promotional mechanisms worldwide. Cooperating with relevant authorities to provide the necessary air transport to Egypt is another goal of the ministy in addition to expanding partnerships with the private sector to provide and operate services at archaeological sites and museums.

Our marketing efforts will be driven by an economically focused approach that accounts for the seasonality of tourism. We are currently working on creating a modern and dynamic image of Egypt by developing innovative content for our tourist destinations. At the same time, we are updating our promotional methods, with a stronger emphasis on digital marketing, especially through social media platforms, which have become some of the most effective tools for tourism promotion globally. We are also collaborating with relevant authorities to ensure adequate air transportation capacity to Egypt and expanding partnerships with the private sector to improve services at archaeological sites and museums.

Our efforts aim to preserve Egypt’s unique cultural heritage and drive the tourism sector toward greater heights, achieving unprecedented growth and facilitating the realization of the full potential of this promising sector
