Learn about archaeological sites In integrated Management of Cultural Tourism (IMCT) project

The Integrated Management of Cultural Tourism (IMCT) Project funded by USAID and implemented by FHI 360 in collaboration with the Supreme Council of Antiquities, is designed to address current global trends towards more experiential and authentic travels, focusing on Historic Cairo and Luxor destinations, and lays the foundation for a more sustainable cultural tourism management approach that will strategically position Egypt for the years to come.

IMCT works closely with the Government of Egypt at the national and regional levels to streamline the legislative and regulatory environments and develop Public Private Partnership (PPP) models that will incentivize the private sector to invest in cultural tourism.

Developing PPP’s for heritage assets restoration and adaptive reuse and building the capacity of micro, small, medium enterprises in cultural tourism experiences development and promotion will support the increase in Egypt’s tourism revenues, benefiting local communities living around targeted Sites.

Sites included in the project
First Phase: Sabil Mustafa Sinan, Sabil Hassan Agha Koklyan, Sabil and Kuttab Ruqayya Dudu, Zawiya and Sabil Farag ibn Barquq.

Second Phase: Bab Manjak al-Silahdar, Takiyya Taqi al-Din al-Bustami, Sabil al-Amir Shaykhu, Bimaristan al-Mu’ayyad Sheikh
