The Faculty of Dentistry at the German University in Cairo Organizes Its First Scientific Day

As part of its ongoing commitment to academic excellence and innovation, the German University in Cairo (GUC) continues to strengthen its position as a leading educational institution.

Building on a forward-looking vision established in 2003 by its Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Ashraf Mansour, the university organized the First Scientific Day of its Faculty of Dentistry, featuring first-year students—the first batch since the faculty’s establishment.

The Faculty of Dentistry represents a significant addition to the university’s faculties, operating under the leadership of University President Dr. Yasser Hegazy, who continues, in collaboration with the Board of Trustees and faculty members, to advance educational programs in line with international standards.

The event was attended by Dr. Ashraf Mansour, who toured the student exhibition alongside Dr. Michael Hoch, President of the University of Bonn, on the sidelines of his visit to GUC.

Both sides explored students’ projects, including applied models and research ideas, expressing strong admiration for the high level of performance demonstrated by students in their very first year.

Dr. Mansour praised the creativity, dedication, and innovation reflected in the showcased projects, emphasizing that these outcomes highlight the success of GUC’s educational approach—one that effectively integrates theoretical knowledge with practical application.

He noted that such an approach is essential in preparing graduates capable of keeping pace with global advancements in dentistry.

The Scientific Day featured a diverse range of student work, including educational models, illustrative prototypes, and research ideas.

These projects reflected a solid academic foundation and demonstrated the students’ ability to grasp the fundamentals of their discipline in a practical way from an early stage.

The event also reflects the Faculty’s commitment, under the leadership of its Dean, Dr. Shahinaz Elashiry, to building a strong academic foundation for students by fostering research skills, innovation, and teamwork. She expressed pride in the students’ achievements, describing them as a promising start aligned with the Faculty’s clear vision of developing a new generation of distinguished dental professionals.

In this context, the Dean of the Faculty stated, “Today, we are proud to see the initial outcomes of our Faculty, which aims to discover and refine students’ scientific talents from the first year, in addition to promoting a culture of scientific research and teamwork in line with the latest global educational trends.

What we are witnessing today reflects the University’s vision of providing education based on research, innovation, and practical application.”

She added, “With this strong beginning, the Faculty of Dentistry at GUC is moving steadily towards consolidating its position as one of the leading faculties, based on a strong institutional vision that invests in its students from day one.”
