the anniversary of the discovery of king setil’s tomb in luxor

The tomb of King Seti I (KV 17), discovered by Giovanni Belzoni on October 16, 1817, is one of the largest and most magnificent royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings in Luxor. It is renowned for the precision and diversity of the funerary scenes depicted on its walls, as well as its unique astronomical ceiling, which retains vibrant colors until today. Notably, this tomb was the first tomb to be fully decorated.

Inside, there is a mysterious passage believed to have been used in rituals connecting the king to the afterlife. King Seti I, the second king of Dynasty 19, led numerous military campaigns and oversaw many large-scale construction projects. He is the father of the legendary King Ramses II, commonly known as Ramses the Great.
