painted scenes unveiled for the first time at edfu temple during Restoration
The joint archaeological mission between the Supreme Council of Antiquities and the University of Würzburg in Germany succeeded in revealing the original painted scenes at the Temple of Edfu and a number of inscriptions for the first time.
These activities were part of the restoration project of the temple roof which began in 2021. The temple of Edfu is dedicated to the worship of the god Horus.
Remains of the original colors that covered the carved reliefs were also uncovered.
The minister praised the efforts made by the restorers to preserve Egypt’s cultural heritage, and their tireless attempts to uncover all the inscriptions in the Egyptian temples and restore the original colors that adorned them for thousands of years.
