Trilateral Cooperation: The German University in Cairo organizes workshops about pharmacovigilance with EDA and MUP
A workshop at the Faculty of Pharmacy at the German University in Cairo revolves around pharmacovigilance in collaboration with the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) and Medical Union Pharmaceuticals (MUP)
The Faculty of Pharmacy and Biotechnology at the German University in Cairo organizes a workshop titled Introduction to Pharmacovigilance: The Foundation of Pharmaceutical Practice for fourth, fifth, and sixth-year students in the Faculty of Pharmacy in collaboration with the Central Administration of Pharmaceutical Affairs, a subsidiary of the Egyptian Drug Authority, and the pharmacovigilance department at the Medical Union Pharmaceuticals company. The workshop discussed valuable insights concerning the field of pharmacovigilance, tools, essential methods for discovering and preventing harmful drug interactions, roles and responsibilities of pharmaceutical companies in the field of pharmacovigilance, the importance of monitoring and evaluating the safety of drugs after marketing, as well as the regulatory role of the Egyptian Drug Authority in managing and overseeing, which is considered a fundamental task for serving the community and achieving patient safety. The workshop also witnessed rising students’ awareness of the importance of providing awareness and educational services to patients and community members to enhance awareness and improve healthcare.
According to the opinions of the participating students, the workshop was characterized by its interactive aspect whenever they were given the opportunity to ask questions, participate in constructive discussions and find solutions for real cases in the field of pharmacovigilance and its importance in enhancing their knowledge in viral fields that serve their future professional practices to prepare pioneering cadres characterized by high professionalism in the practical field of pharmaceuticals and drug therapy.
The workshop was organized by Dr Rajwa Manson and Dr Nadia Sharaf from the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biotechnology at the German University in Cairo with the participation of Dr Doaa Soliman as a representative of Egyptian Drug Authority. Dr Geghan Al-Hefny and Dr Islam Osama in the pharmacovigilance department at the Medical Union Pharmaceuticals company (MUP).
